Private Yoga Classes

I am certified to teach anyone above the age of 12 years old, as well as being able to tailor a Yoga practice to specific conditions (e.g. Pregnancy, recovery from an injury, chronic health issues).

Sometimes it is better to have the Yoga class tailored to you specifically, either 1 to 1 or as a couple. Together we can design a sequence of practice or short course, to focus on an area of the body for strengthening/increasing flexibility with, or towards a particular posture. I also offer private Yoga Therapy sessions.

Location: As I am based in West London, I am happy to travel within the region of Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Shepherd’s Bush, Chiswick, Acton and Ealing.

I also offer classes via online platforms (mainly Zoom and Microsoft Teams), in case you are out of this area or want to keep up with your practice while travelling.

Meet your Yoga Therapist

Dr Stanford Wong, Yoga Teacher standing in dark blue vest

Hi, I’m Stanford. I have been working as a medical doctor since 2013, focused in Mental health and Women’s health. This has given me lots of experience in looking after people with a variety of physical and mental health problems.

I began practising Yoga when I was a teenager and have been teaching Yoga since 2018. Being trained in the lineage of Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar, I have learned yoga practice beyond exercise; into therapeutic and spiritual purposes.

 FAQs

  • There is no need to splash out on Yoga clothes or branded stuff when you first start the practice. However, it is good to wear something that is comfortable and you can move in, as the practice/therapy may involve a range of physical postures and breathing practices. Restrictions around the chest and abdomen region would be best avoided.

Sometimes my clients come straight from work, and we still manage to find a practice that works for those sessions.

  • Props can get expensive and you will have to deal with storage between sessions, so I understand if you do not want to get much to begin with.

Ideally, you will have a Yoga mat so that there is padding between yourself and the floor surface which is useful for floor-based practices. (I mean, there are lots of practices we can do standing and on a chair, but more option is always more fun). The padding will help minimize you slipping and getting too cold or sore from floor-based practice.

  • I accept payment in cash, bank transfer or PayPal. Contact me to organise a private yoga class.

Sorry, I don’t have a card machine to take card payments in person.

  • The cost of living is rising and money can be an obstacle to signing up for regular Yoga classes or Yoga therapy. That’s why I offer a discount if you bulk buy sessions in advance. Also do get in touch via the contact form, so we can have a chat about an agreeable payment plan or concession charge.

  • I didn’t want to rely purely on my experience as a medical doctor when faced with students with medical issues or special circumstances. So I have taken specialized training including a 4-year Yoga Therapy course to equip me in tailoring yoga practices to most clients and circumstances.

We most certainly can work together in tailoring your Yoga practice to suit your needs and limitations. We can also look into signing you up for Yoga therapy, where the Yoga tools are applied to help you recover/reduce the condition/help you cope with long-term conditions.

It is understandable that you feel nervous, especially if Yoga is a relatively new territory for you. Please get in touch via the contact form and we can set up a clarity call to discuss your needs.

  • I offer Yoga classes and Yoga therapy via online platforms (mainly through Zoom and Microsoft Teams), so do let me know if you are travelling and we can set up the joining link in advance.
